Danish Musings
Denmark
Приєднався 12 сер 2008
Welcome! My name is Helle, and on this channel I share aspects of my knitting life as well as bits about Denmark & aspects of my Danish life, including some of the things I love best, such as nature, literature, travel, my garden, as well as musings on life in general. My opinions and beliefs are (of course) based on where I am in life and what I have experienced. In no way do I want to appear like an expert on life but rather like someone who is on a journey of discovery. I would be honored if you would join me. It is my hope that you will be either enlightened, entertained or uplifted - in a small way.
A knitting episode (17): Crystal, Trellis, new cast-on & pale pink leanings
Hello friends, and welcome to a new knitting episode from me - a slightly windy one, at first. I hope you will be OK with the 'ambient' noise. The wind gradually dies down, only to be replaced by a little medley of birds and city sounds toward the end, but you should be able to hear me. Such is the price of sitting outside. I hope all is well with you and that you are finding joy in your knitting and whatever else is in your life right now. (I've tried adding chapters this time and hope it works).

What yoga philosophy is teaching me
Переглядів 4,2 тис.21 день тому
Namaste! I have humbly made this short video on ancient, yogic philosophy because I think it is worth sharing anything that might allow us to gain a little more insight into this journey called Life. Humbly - because it would be reckless to suppose this is the full picture of a vast and ancient field, so please bear that in mind; and - because I am very much still a student. While I do feel I h...
A knitting episode (16): FO's, WIP's, swatching & indecision
Переглядів 29 тис.Місяць тому
Thank you for joining me here today on a rainy knitting episode! It's been a long time coming, which I talk about a bit in the video, so thank you for your patience. After a few days of editing and three days of down-/uploading time, I can report that the weather has now markedly improved (not that you care about the weather, but any Danes watching might wonder what I'm on about i the video, al...
A knitting episode (15): Eurus slipover, Javelin shawl & Gerda sweater + some sweater surgery
Переглядів 38 тис.3 місяці тому
Dear friends, near and far, I'm finally ready with a new knitting episode, and after hours of editing, I have already found things I have forgotten. Well. It seems to be the default occurrence, so I hope you will add a comment and ask me (if I can answer it) or check Ravelry if it's something that I might have added there. I am very happy with the knits that I share with you in this episode and...
A knitting episode (14): Cables & texture | 1 FO, 4 WIP's & a visit to Loop of London
Переглядів 43 тис.4 місяці тому
Hello everyone, and welcome to knitting episode 14, in which I babble on about all the cables that are currently passing (and have recently passed) through my hands. I forgot to ask you how you feel about cables - do you love them, hate them, try to avoid them, feel indifferent about them? Thank you for showing up here and patiently allowing me to chat about knitting. It is appreciated. All the...
A knitting episode (13): Everything I knitted in 2023 & what I wear the most
Переглядів 58 тис.5 місяців тому
Happy New Year, and thank you for joining me in this review-of-2023 knitting episode. If you've seen my previous episodes, you'll have seen and heard some of it before, but I do try to draw some (new) overall conclusions because things happen, simply, with the passing of time. It did the little 'fashion show-y' thing again, modelling each garment in order for you to see the fit, but I did it ou...
A different Christmas
Переглядів 7 тис.5 місяців тому
A belated Happy New Year to you! I wish I could have had this video up sooner, but you know: life. If you're fed up with all things Christmas, maybe save it for December, although there are also some non-Christmassy things to be had here, it being London, and London being London. I am so grateful that London/the UK is only a short flight away from me; one might almost deem it a semi-domestic fl...
A knitting episode (12): some Nordic knits | 3 FO's + 2 WIP's (incl. Blouse No. 1 & Nola Cardigan)
Переглядів 76 тис.6 місяців тому
Hello friends. It has been a while (since I uploaded a knitting video, anyway), so thank you for your patience. Not that you've been twiddling your thumbs, waiting (there are so many amazing podcasts out there now!), but - you know what I mean. It was a wintery day when I filmed, and though I loved it, the light played tricks on me. Not helped by a certain person in my household who kept walkin...
Nice, Antibes & St. Paul de Vence + thoughts of a travel guide
Переглядів 6 тис.7 місяців тому
Chers amis, pardon the coy French address here, but the French language is so blessedly fresh in my mind when I've just been to France (and so annoyingly remote when time passes, and I don't use it). This was not a holiday; let me make that perfectly clear. When I looked through the footage myself, I thought: well, nobody can see all the stress I felt, the lack of sleep, the worries. But maybe ...
A knitting episode (11): Soldotna, Weekender & (too) many plans
Переглядів 47 тис.8 місяців тому
Welcome, friends, to an October knitting episode where I talk about what is happening in my knitting life right now and what the future might hold knitting-wise. The video/podcast took (again) a long time to edit and upload, and so my birthday (which I mention) has come and gone. Just FYI. I felt a bit apprehensive about talking about knitting right now, the world being what it is. I did it any...
A knitting episode (10): The Snow Crocus + Paris cast-on & acquisition (and knitting at Versailles)
Переглядів 52 тис.8 місяців тому
Welcome, friends, to episode 10 of my knitting podcasts :-) It took a little longer to edit and upload than anticipated, apropos what I mention in this episode. I've been to Paris since we last 'chatted' and look forward to sharing a little of that and a lot of the Snow Crocus with you. Sending you love and peace and sweater weather! A knitting episode (9): on transitional knits, FO's & some pattern challenges
Переглядів 36 тис.9 місяців тому
Hello, my knitting and non-knitting friends. After two days of downloading, this video is finally up. I hope you'll enjoy it. I will write little else in this space so as to have room for Nordic designer names below (many of them suggested to me by you, thank you), after the patterns and yarns I talk about. Much love, Helle. NB: I apologize for sounding so upset about my WIP. Let me assure you ...
Trip to southern Sweden - Öland, Kalmar & Kristianstad
Переглядів 13 тис.10 місяців тому
Välkommen! A trip to Sweden is always a good idea in my view, especially (but not only) when you can drive there in a matter of hours. The difficulty can sometimes be having to return. There are so many things I love about our neighboring country, and since it was just a brief, five-day visit in the southern-most part (of a huge country, compared to Denmark), this is just a little taste of its ...
A knitting episode (8): Kuutar top + all the wips, yarns & plans

Thank you for joining me. I'm delighted to share some of my knitting with you, but my choice of venue came with a (small) price today. First the birds, then the occasional gust of wind (the windshield on my microphone was a little askew apparently), and then, well, you'll see for yourself. I hope you''ll shrug at the outdoor keeping-it-real ambience (and that you can hear me!) @helles.knitting....
Exploring beautiful Santorini - views, food, architecture, walks & nature

Welcome to a little travelog to the gorgeous, Greek island of Santorini. I had the privilege of spending a week there in July, and I wanted to share some key moments and images with you. Thank you for coming along with me in my modest tribute to this gem in the Mediterranean. I hope you enjoy it - maybe you'll even feel tempted to travel there yourself ... (highly recommended!) P.S. Hi Helle, I enjoy your podcasts so much. Thank you for all the work and effort you put into them. ❤
Helle what I love about your channel is how incredibly authentic and thoughtful you are, so I think the people who don't stick around are probably not of the same tribe. Glad you made peace with it, and keep doing exactly what you're doing. I wish I had the courage to do the same!
Thank you for this lovely episode 😀 You give med so much joy listening to all your thoughts about life and knitting.
- og selv tak for din tid - fine ting du strikker en fornøjelse at se med! Tak god sommer! 🫶🏻
Your knits are beautiful ❤
Nice to see you 👍👍👍👍❤
Hello from Gretna Nebraska USA 🥰 I love your episodes so much ! You are such a lovely person with a beautiful soul ! Love the knitting and your beautiful beautiful home ! 💖
Love your podcasts. All the musings and thoughts on both life and your projects. It’s like chatting with a knitting friend, but you just can’t hear my responses 😂 Keep doing whatever you enjoy. That’s got to be the main purpose of all our crafting. 💚
Helle, Thank-you for an enjoyable podcast. ❤
Authentic, genuine connection- all aspects of why I so enjoy your point of veiw and ability to create our community anew
HI Helle, I think all of you podcasters are so brave to put yourselves out there. I enjoy your musings, your projects and thoughts on yarns and colours, your finds and the sense of community you're creating on here. Thanks for sharing.
as always i enjoy watching your podcast, and so nice to see you and Laerke together, please do a podcast one day with her, , she is my other favorite podcast Fibertales, if anyone is wondering,
Thank you 🩵 I love watching your videos, we definitely have a lot in common!
Love your podcasts. I am here to stay not just for knitting but for you. ❤
I‘ve been waiting for your new podcast for a month, I absolutely love your channel. Your thoughts, your voice, your knitting, your presence-everything is delightful. Each episode is like honey for my soul. Thank you❤
It's simple, I love your podcast. For me your podcast is like magic 🤍🩶 and that needle binder is so you absolutely perfect binder💼
Dear lady, I love your podcast and musings. All the way from Oklahoma, so don’t give up please. Love Victoria Saracen…
Love your podcast so much ! And to see your roses , absolutely gorgeous. Thank you again!
What size did u do the fluffy sweater knitters world yarn in
💕 danke
Love this video and the noise of nature in the background. “Alive Alive O” to yourself. Greetings from Ireland xxx
I love your podcasts! Don’t change to other peoples bias’s. Just be yourself. We love you for it! Is that painting on the wall where you were knitting at the intro a Paul Klee? I love it 😍
I always look forward to your podcast. You are such a nice and inspiring person! Thank you for the time you take to share your thoughts and knittings!
Hi Helle, I love your philosophical approach of creating and observing the world. Your podcasts give so much more than a review of knitting. It’s so generous of you to share your thoughts with us. ❤ I can perhaps share also some inspiration from my summer projects. To invite summer at last this year (we have unusual low temperatures here in France this year) I decided to cast on summer projects with some summer yarns. I’m knitting a Lexa top with some linen/bamboo from “une maille a la fois” and a Sorbetto shawl incorporating some leftovers of Iris (alpaca/linen/silk) from “Lain’amourée”. It is so pleasant to work with some different textures of fibre. Sometimes It feels like a massage for the fingertips 😊
I must smile listening to you speak of yarn names and how they captivate you. I’ve too have been known to buy a yarn simply because I love the name of the yarn! I can name several interesting names but each would be unique to every individual. Lovely setting today. ClaudiaSJI
Hello Helle, I want you to know how much I enjoy your podcasts. The knitting content is inspiring and your thoughts on the various topics are much appreciated. I also like to muse over things. I’m knitting the Callista right now and love the fabric I’m creating . It’s also bottom up, determining sleeve length is a bit of a challenge but I think measuring against another sweater is the way to go. Have a wonderful summer. I love the two sweaters you showed us.
I love your podcast and welcome your musings whether philosophical of knit based. Thank you for your honesty, vulnerability, and humility.
Your stories about awe put a smile on my face. That’s always a good thing! I also have a problem with the prickle factor and have just ordered a yarn that looks fluffy like alpaca but is 100% cotton, brushed. I’m looking forward to trying it, Pasquali Suave.
Enjoyed the outside view and your thoughts and knits.
I just love everything about your podcast!❤
Oh I love all your video content as well as your beautiful makes. Yes, I got told recently that my generosity was because I was trying to buy friends..do will try to remember the shifting rug quote..❤
Hi, hope you won’t find a reply from a random stranger intrusive but your comment broke a piece of my heart. Whoever told you that you were trying to buy friends with your generosity has to be a tortured soul. You just keep being your generous self. ❤
Please repeat the names of the yarns you use. The yarn choice is so important and usually you only say the name of the yarn once and quickly so if you miss it it’s hard to find. Your sweaters are beautiful!
I’d be interested if you find US 9 in 12 inch circular needles. The largest I’ve found is a US 8. Enjoyed the podcast. I hope you continue to post what you want when you want. I’m a little afraid that you’ll get discouraged and not want to podcast. There are very few people who actually discuss their knitting process in enough detail that I can decide if I’m interested in a specific pattern or yarn. Thanks for continuing. Deb in Florida
Dear Helle! I appreciate your 'musings' so much, please don't ever censor yourself. I think you are a very intelligent and also sensitive person to observe, describe and ponder on the things you share with us. I often feel like talking (even if only in my head) with a friend. I like your choice of knitting projects too but that would not be crucial to stick around;) I was amused by things we have in common, I called my partner several times to have a look: the roses! the cat<3! "she teaches yoga as well" :D He said - are the knitters all over the world like that?! :D.D:D I wish you beautiful summer trip(s) <3
Hello Helle……Your knitting episodes are so wonderful, uplifting and encouraging! I look forward to them each and every time. Speaking of vacations….my husband and I will be in Copenhagen next week. Would you be able to recommend a good local restaurant, nothing too fussy. Just good Danish food. BTW, I’m planning on visiting Knitting for Olive….I am so excited. Again, thank you and best wishes to you and yours. Stephanie Fite
Yet another super knitty episode. Your knits and acquisitions are all next level beautiful. Enjoy your summer.
Hi Helle, thank you for sharing your positive view of "unsubscribing". I think it is a reminder/lesson for us all. There's good and bad about social media. It's really not about the "likes"; it's about wanting to share. Your "awe" story about the little boy brought tears of joy to my eyes as well. So sweet of those girls! Their "village" raised them well!
Regarding your sleeve showing when the sweater rides up, can you push the jersey up on your arm or cuff it so it won’t show when the sweater sleeve rises up
Omg I loved this video , don’t know how many times I rewind 😊. The ambience, the feeling the footage and music and every everything Thanx for all and for the perfect work you do, the good test in yarn and pattern choosing . I wrote like 2 comments on yor project on Ravelry hope you see them Have a nice summer and midsummer (today in Sweden) ❤🥂
Lovely Podcast!!
Hello🌸, I just happened upon your channel today! I’m very new to the knitting podcast world and am completely “enchanted “! Really enjoyed your vlog today ..your sweaters and your musings!…thank you 🩵
Helle, as you say musings. When talking to friends we dont practice or act out or orchestrate our conversation (some might😂) Its about what comes to mind to tell the listener/friend, at that particular moment of time. And how it relates to our love of what we do in our craft. ❤
My first time here . I really enjoyed your podcast and the atmosphere you created. And of course your cat 😍 the sweaters look beautiful on you . Happy summer . Greeting from the Netherlands
I subscribe, among other things, both because of „Danish“ and „musings“ - so this was a perfect episode. Thankyou! And I so hear you on row gauge…
37:00 The knitting "bible" is a must have!! one can see all techniques there are and how to do them (+ yt tutorials), so no need for a designer to explain everything.
For example, there a few short-row techniques and some of them are less visible in a fabric then German short-rows. Wrap around is considered one of them.
so nice to see/hear you again, the colours of your two new sweaters suit you very much 👏
Helle, I love and look forward to your podcasts . Your choice of knits and wool are stunning. Busy with the Javelin shawl thanks for sharing it . Your grace and insights are inspiring. Thank you for taking the time to share your knowledge and creativity.
I wonder if Thread and Maple make non leather folders for crafty products? I'm veggie. ❤ I love your musings, manderings, thoughts and incredible beautiful knits ❤
I absolutely love your podcast and all the different themes you share. You make me happy. May I ask you to add a descriptive walk of your gorgeous garden. Love form Madrid, Spain
